Introduction
Nicotinic Acid, or Niacin, is a form of vitamin B3 and is an essential nutrient in both humans and animals. While it can be found in various forms of feeds, Niacin supplementation has shown to have great health benefits for both humans and animals such as improved carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism. Niacin supplementation has shown to increase milk production in dairy cows and improved response to heat stress during hot weathers.
Manufacturing Process
The main industrial method of producing Nicotonic Acid consists of the oxidation of 2-methyl-5-ethylpyridine with HNO3. 2-Methyl-5-ethylpyridine for this purpose is industrially produced in large scale from paraldehyde and ammonia. Another method of synthesis starts from pyridine that has been brominated in the third position to produce 3-bromopyidine, which, in turn, was converted to 3-cyanopyidine and then hydrolyzed to the desired pyridine-3-carboxylic acid. Oxidation of nicotine, β-picoline, and quinolone is also proposed as a method for synthesizing pyridine-3-carboxylic acid–niacin
• Premixture raw material
• Improve ketosis and lead to increased milk production in cows.
• Prevent niacin deficiency in chicks which are characterized by loss of appetite and retarded growth rates.
• Supplement for early age chicken to enhance growth.
